Fast-Paced, Entertaining Meetings
We all go to too many useless meetings that drag on and on. That doesn’t happen at “The Cats”. We take pride in conducting professional, productive, and energetic meetings that provide real value to our members.
As a member you will have the opportunity to participate in many roles to achieve your speaking and leadership goals. The VP of Education and your mentor will help you choose activities to help you meet these goals.
Step-by-Step Programs To Achieve Your Goals
Whether you want to improve your speaking skills or to be a better leader, as a member you will receive a step-by-step workbook that will help guide you along your journey. You can move at whatever pace you feel comfortable with, and the club will support you in your endeavors.
Mentors play a key part in all growth and learning. Each member has a chance to work with a mentor, who will help them with their goals and journey. Our mentors are experienced speakers and leaders both within and outside of the organization and their feedback and advice will accelerate your learning.
FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
What will I see at a meeting?
The meeting will start with a brief address from our Presiding Officer. He or she will introduce and welcome guests, and then turn the meeting over to the day’s Toastmaster (one of our members).
At each meeting, our members take turns in the roles which make up the agenda — those roles include Jokemaster, Timer, Grammarian, Ah-Counter, and, of course, our Speakers, Evaluators, and Table Topics™ participants. The meeting is coordinated by the Toastmaster of the day.
Our usual meeting includes three prepared speeches of about 7 minutes each, a session of Table Topics (short, impromptu speeches in response to a question from the day’s Table Topics Master), and evaluations.
The atmosphere is friendly and supportive — we’re here to learn by doing and help each other. Come join us!

Who will help me?
You will get help from everyone in the club as well as have a mentor assigned to you. The purpose of Toastmasters is to help you become a better speaker and a better leader.
This is all done at your pace and your level of comfort.
Is there more to Toastmasters than speaking?
Yes. Toastmasters emphasizes both speaking and leadership.
When you join, you will receive two manuals to help you along the path to the Competent Communicator and Competent Leader awards.
These manuals include specific projects and milestones to help you along your journey. You will also get a mentor to give you feedback and help you with your specific goals.
Whether you really want to push yourself or you just want to attend a fun meeting to start off your Thursdays, the club will provide a supportive environment, for you move at your own pace and with your level of comfort.
